THE MEETING
Last week   5/27/09

President Marty McGreevy opened the meeting leading us in the Rotary Prayer.  The 4-Way Test was offered by Kelley Thompson and Vann Milheim led us in The Pledge.

Reminder: Membership recruitment is critical for the District and our club. Goal should be 10% increase per District Governor Ron Richards.

Our Club still holds a corporate donation (Lost Key Resort) for lodging, food & golf that expires in September.  Raffle tickets were passed out and are $5 each.   A portion of the proceeds will go to the YMCA project for the Key as well as other local charities. DRAWING WILL BE HELP AT THE BUSINESS PLANNING ASSEMBLY ON 20 MAY! (Delayed to next meeting)  WINNER = ROY MCMILLAN

Our raffle for the Resort Package sold roughly 100 tickets (+/- $500)!! Roy McMillan was the winner and graciously sold the package back to the club, guaranteeing another $250 from the original sponsor.

Hannah confirmed reservations fort he Change of Charge Dinner for Wednesday, 17 June at Big Lagoon Yacht Club with social hour beginning at 6 pm.

Dave – Announced a new website, PerdidoRotary.org .

Tony motioned and Dave 2nd to join the Perdido Chamber. Motion passed.

Marty – “Thank You”  notes received from Congressman(s) Miller & Bonner.

John S. – Scooter controversy continues.

Pat Mc. Raised $15,000 for local charities from recent “Mullet Toss”.

Guest Speaker John Tice, District Rep. Membership Chair (3 yrs) provided with some “lessons learned for recruiting:

•    Start with Goals. 1, 3, 5 yrs
•    Define Problems. Use recent survey and look for “Inhibitors”
•    “Written Plan” for Retention and Recruitment
•    Create the “Right” Committee. For small clubs, THAT’S EVERBODY!
•    Assign responsibility and Support (Accountability Assigned)
•    Continuously Improve…nothing is perfect.
